The mission of the Drainage and Stormwater Section is to provide management and implementation of regulatory and non-regulatory programs to improve drainage, stormwater, water quality and dam safety.
Specifically, we manage:
The Drainage Program, which provides technical assistance to landowners, tax ditch organizations, Conservation Districts, federal, state and local agencies in the areas of drainage, water management and restoration.
The Sediment and Stormwater Program, with responsibilities for:
- Stormwater management engineering plan approval
- Sediment control and inspection during construction
- Post-construction inspection of permanent stormwater facilities
- Stormwater quantity and water quality control
- Education/training relating to stormwater.
and the Dam Safety Program, which adopts standards for construction, repair, maintenance, operation and inspection of publicly owned dams.
